Saturday, October 29th, 2022 marked the end of this year’s Institute for Creative Teaching! Throughout the 3 institute days, Artists Jo Fitsell, Lainie Hodges, and Jennifer Johnson Lowe created positive atmospheres that encouraged participants to embrace taking risks, trust their creative instincts, be playful, and collaborate on a variety of projects. Bridge Builders Gwylym Cano, Paula Adamo, and Shannon Burgert led sessions to assist participants in synthesizing their learning and applying it to various pedagogies. Thanks to guidance from DU Professor Bruce Uhrmacher, educators dived deep into elements of CRISPA (Connection, Risk-taking, Imagination, Sensory Experience, Perceptivity, and Active Engagement) and brainstormed ways to incorporate them into their curriculum.
To end the Institute, participants drafted arts integration lesson plans to be implemented into their classrooms, and reflected on the growth and learning they experienced at ICT.
We’re so grateful to have a community of educators that value creative learning and re-conceptualizing education through the arts. Thank you to our Teaching Artists, Bridge Builders, DU faculty, and participants for making this 3 day event possible!
