Perla graduated as an architect in Buenos Aires, Argentina and traveled in Europe for many years before coming to the USA bringing vast experience in design, color and texture. Here she became a weaver and a papermaker selling her work in Virginia, New Mexico and Colorado. She was an Artist in Residence for the Colorado Art Council where she was able to teach handmade-paper in the school system through the state. Perla also received her Masters of Education, and taught Spanish in K-12 schools and in higher education for many years.
She currently markets her wears in Santa Fe and Taos and makes her home in Alamosa, Colorado. She gives herself time to research the felting sources that she is using and clearly her work reflects a great deal of constant interpretation of ancient design along with a contemporary felting technique. Her sense of color is inspired by the surrounding mountains where she lives and the amazing sunsets and overall light of the Southwest.
