The recipient of the Governor’s Award, the Mayor’s Award for Excellence, numerous awards from the Colorado Council on the Arts, the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, Hispanic Cultures of the Southwest and the Rocky Mountain News, Jeanette Trujillo-Lucero is the Founder and Artistic Director of Fiesta Colorado Inc. and the Ballet Folklorico de Colorado. Jeanette owned and directed the Danzantes Dance Studio for over 25 years. Her collaborations include work with the Colorado Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, International Mariachi Festival, and the Fiestas de Santa Fe, among many others.
She has been the choreographer for the Colorado Children’s Chorale, Arvada Center, Denver Public High Schools and Up with the People. Jeanette has received special recognition from the CCA, SCFD, Hispanic Cultures of the Southwest, Rocky Mountain News and was the honored recipient of the Governor’s Award and the 1997 Mayors Award for Excellence. Jeanette has done numerous educational outreach programs, Artist-In-Residence Programs and summer intensive workshops with the Colorado Ballet, David Taylor Dance, Colorado Folklife Festival, Colorado Showcase, CCA, Community Resources and the DPS Educational Television program. Through a hands-on, eyes-on approach, Jeanette leads Artist-In-Residence programs that lead students to create, communicate and problem solve through dance and choreography. Jeanette’s work focuses on the role of dance in the histories of multiple cultures.
