Workshop or Residency for grades 3rd through 12th

Using a variety of material generated and collected from other art making projects, students will learn to create one-of-a-kind books that have a variety of uses. We will transform prints, drawings, or other art on paper into the book cover, and used newsprint or found paper becomes the inside pages. Students will watch me bind their book together on the sewing machine, then can draw on or embellish with a variety of mixed media to create a truly unique handmade book.
Suitable for a wide variety of uses: journal, sketchbook, field trip notebook, travel journal, creative writing, scientific notes, etc.
Imagery can integrate various subject matter, and range anywhere from nature, science, mathematics, health topics, technology, language, etc.
Content can be modified to work with curriculum and lesson plans.
Pairs well with most other workshops.
