Workshop or Residency for grades 1st through 12th

Students will learn about what makes a ceramics work functional. Possible projects or works can include wheel thrown pieces (depending on class equipment), coil built vessels, slab boxes or pinch pot containers. How these pieces function aesthetically in our environment and how they have been made throughout time can be discussed. For example, there are very specific Jomon pots that early functional vessels in Japan and this workshop can focus on functional work within a specific culture. This project will be tailored to the teacher’s needs, time and equipment.
