Folky Figures – Visual and tactile interpretations

Folky Figures – Visual and tactile interpretations

Workshop or Residency for grades K through 12th

Folk art is a playful art of the everyday, conveying shared community values, aesthetics and culture, while often utilizing a range of craft and found object medium. Students will utilize everyday and found items such as pine cones, bottle caps, popsicle sticks, scraps of fabric and wood, old toys, feathers, etc. to create fun figurative sculptures. This workshop is a great introduction to visual and structural problem solving, as well as creative interpretation and potential of objects in the world around us.
