Apex is committed to creating dance that inspires and teaches. To accomplish this mission, Apex uses ground breaking movement that combines dance with media arts and technology, and fuses several different dance styles into a vibrant and novel approach. Apex’s style can be appreciated by all regardless of their level of exposure to the arts.
Dancing on the Shoulders of Giants K-12
Apex’s Dancing on the Shoulders of Giants is a dance performance that teaches and portrays historical events throughout time. With the physicality of movement, the mind and senses open and allow a person to freely appreciate the emotions, determination, and culture of important players in history.
Our performance starts with an introduction to the related historical events and their corresponding movement vocabulary. Historical events include the Wright Brothers, Native American Culture, and Women’s Suffrage, among others. The company then performs some repertory, which gives the students a sample of what a professional dance performance entails. A question/answer portion will follow, allowing the students to ask questions.
