Jacob Mora hails from the Mile High city of Denver Colorado. He is the founder & Artistic Director of Moraporvida Contemporary Dance (MPVCD), a 501-c3 non-profit dance company, that is based on exploring the human condition through story, movement, and sound. Jacob performs, produces, directs, creates, and teaches across the nation not only within movement-based work but within music, film, theatre, art & fashion. As a passionate advocate for dance and dance education, He creates outreach, discussion, and lectures on the benefits of movement including His Ted X talk “The Power of Movement” with co-creator Nicole Predki.

As a choreographer he has an electric catalog of work that has been seen internationally, setting works in MPVCD, dance festivals, college programs and dance companies abroad. His works have received many awards and accolades including pieces “The Pink Blue” and “Intercession”. His work pulls from many different forms of culture and social constructs including social issues, pop culture, Hip-Hop and the fusion of dance forms. His use of music and ability to create unique musical scores adds to his choreography to create mesmerizing work.

As a dance educator, Jacob has been on faculty with the University of Wyoming, UNLV, The New York Institute of Dance, and Metropolitan State University. Along with teaching in higher education, he has taught for multiple organizations including schools like Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Sweatshop Dance, festivals, summer programs and institutions abroad. He has had the mission to expand the view of what dance can be and bring the arts to all. Mr. Mora teaches multiple techniques within Hip Hop, Modern, Contemporary Dance, Jazz as well as Classical Dance. He has had the pleasure of creating curriculum for Dancers, Non-Dancers and people with special needs from age 5 to 85.

Jacob graduated from the University of Northern Colorado and recieved B.A. s in both Dance & Theatre, with emphasis in Choreography, Acting, and Performance. As a dancer, Jacob has been with the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, Hannah Kahn Dance, Santee Smith Group and Kaleidoscope Dance Theatre. He has had the pleasure of working with Choreographers such as Donald Mckayle, Betty Jones, Ron K Brown, Milton Meyers, David Rousseve, Eleo Pomare, David Dorfman and Lisa Race among many.
