Educational Performance

Introduction to Percussion:
The Marimba Trio will cover a wide variety of musical styles, from the syncopation of ragtime and the propulsive rhythms of Latin music to the excitement of rock and the majesty of Bach.

Percussion Around the World:
Focusing on the huge international scope of percussion, this program traces drumming from its origins in the ancient African tribes, and follows its migration through Europe and Asia to the Americas. Percussion around the world will also add the island of Trinidad and its boisterous Steel Drum Festival to the Marimba Trio's unique travel itinerary.

Workshop

Percussion from the ground up:
Although the Marimba Trio includes audience participation in all of its programs, this workshop is designed for maximum "hands-on" participation. Students use a variety of percussion and "body percussion" instruments to explore the creative process of composing for percussion. No previous instrumental experience or music reading skill are required.

Artist-In-Residence
The Marimba Trio is proud to be included for the first time in the Think 360 Arts educational arts program line up, and to introduce percussion instruments from around the world to communicate the emotional and inspirational power music has on children. From the history of the Front Range to worldwide communication and musical evolution to band recruitment and helping your Orff music programs, the Marimba Trio has a program to fit your musical, educational and entertainment needs!

Members of the Marimba Trio perform regularly with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Colorado Symphony, Colorado Ballet Orchestra, and traveling Broadway musicals, as well as maintaining teaching studios at Metro State College and Colorado College. Having performed for over 100 schools and libraries in Colorado, we hope (with your help) to showcase our vast assortment of over 50 world percussion instruments to many more Colorado students!
