Apex Contemporary Dance Theatre
Apex is committed to creating dance that inspires and teaches. To accomplish this mission, Apex uses ground breaking movement that combines dance with media arts and technology, and fuses several different dance styles into a vibrant and novel approach. Apex’s style can be appreciated by all regardless of their level of exposure to the arts.
EDUCATIONAL PERFORMANCE:
Dancing on the Shoulders of Giants
Apex’s Dancing on the Shoulders of Giants is a dance performance that teaches and portrays historical events throughout time. With the physicality of movement, the mind and senses open and allow a person to freely appreciate the emotions, determination, and culture of important players in history.
Single Performance: $710
Double Performance: $1280
Grade Levels: K-12
SINGLE WORKSHOP:
Dancing Through History
Within our workshop students learn how to create dance based on historical references. As well as teaching history, the workshop has a dual role of teaching students the elements of dance: the basics of locomotor and non‐locomotor movement, basic dance composition, and many others.
Fee: $200
Grade Levels: K-12
Movement With Words
We offer a unique workshop using words, movement, and the creative process. Using words and letters as a vehicle, students are taught shape creation, movement vocabulary, and the basics of choreography. Fee: $170
Grade Levels: K-6
Pure Dance
These workshops compel participation by immersing students in the fluid rhythm and motion of dance. Styles include Jazz, Ballet, Modern, and Creative Movement.
Fee: $170
Grade Levels: K-12
Teacher Workshops
Teachers work with professional artists to enhance their own classroom instruction and impact student interest and achievement. Our workshops and activities are designed to encourage and enable teachers to use the arts throughout their curriculum.
Fee: $125
